If watching sport is your passion, then it’s even better when you can watch it LIVE. From tickets to tours, hotels and flights, my sporting holidays have got you covered.
If watching England battle it out in the finals of the Euros 2024 has made you determined to one day be part of the crowd, then this is the article for you.
Whether you’re a sporting fan or not, being amongst the 110,000-strong crowd at Barcelona Camp Nou, for example, is a truly unforgettable experience. The atmosphere is electric. The sense of community is intoxicating and the smile on your face will be long-lasting.
Alternatively, whether you’re a racing fan or not, feeling the ground beneath you shake as a cavalcade of F1 racing cars roar past is exhilarating.
And, breaking the hushed silence, that unmistakable sound of willow on leather as you bask in the sun overlooking the greens of a cricket pitch is heartwarming.
Securing Your Tickets
Whether it’s football, Formula 1, cricket, tennis, rugby, horseracing, or even the darts, how do you get tickets for the big games, tournaments, or competitions? Your Not Just Travel consultant, of course.
As well as making sure you get your hands on those red hot tickets, I’ll organize all your travel arrangements combining your favorite sport into a dream holiday.
So let’s kick off by taking a look at the upcoming sporting calendar around the world.
FOOTBALL
With all eyes having been firmly on the pitches of Germany during Euro 2024, it’s been a great opportunity to follow in the footsteps of the Three Lions across Deutschland and explore this glorious country.
FIFA World Cup 2026 in Canada, the US & Mexico
For the next biggie, you’ll have to wait until June 2026: the FIFA World Cup.
This is an amazing opportunity to venture over to Canada, the US, and Mexico. What a fantastic itinerary that could be?
The tournament will last nearly six weeks with 104 matches to be played in 16 venues across 11 US cities, three cities in Mexico, and two in Canada.
Mexico City’s Estadio Azteca will blow the first whistle of the tournament. So while in Mexico, why not combine a game here with some bucket-list experiences to make a dream tour?
You can’t go all that way and not tick off the centuries-old Mayan ruins of Chichen Itza, one of the most sacred and archaeologically precious UNESCO World Heritage Sites in the world. Once you conquer the ancient pyramids, you’ll be rewarded with the golden sands of Mexico’s glorious beaches.
Canada will be playing host in both Toronto and Vancouver. Take your pick of exploring either the east or the west of this majestic country. Both cities are gateways to glorious adventures.
Vancouver is often billed as “the most beautiful city in the world,” while on the doorstep of Toronto you’ll find the roaring Niagara Falls.
Alternatively, how about finally doing that tour of the States? Games will be played across this vast country.
Absorb America’s history of Civil Rights and its Gone with the Wind trail in Atlanta, Georgia. Take in a tea party in Boston, Massachusetts. Go star gazing down Hollywood Boulevard in Los Angeles. Escape to Alcatraz and drink in the views of its Golden Gate in San Francisco and pay a visit to that famous White House in Washington.
The third place playoff will take place at Miami's Hard Rock Stadium – a perfect time to ride the coasters at Florida’s world-renowned theme parks.
And for the grand World Cup final, it’s off to the blinding lights of New York. Will Argentina be the reigning champions? Take your seat at New Jersey's MetLife Stadium to find out for yourself.
As far in advance as it may seem, if you want to cheer on England (or any other nation for that matter), then it’s advisable to secure your tickets well in advance.
Switzerland for the Women's Euros 2025
If you can’t wait until 2026 for some live tournament action, then what about Women's Euros in 2025, set against the stunning landscapes of Switzerland?
The tournament will feature thrilling matches across beautiful Swiss cities such as Zurich, Geneva, Basel, and Bern. Each venue offers a unique experience, from Zurich's vibrant urban atmosphere to Geneva's serene lakeside views.
Imagine cheering on your team surrounded by the breathtaking Alps and serene lakes. This event offers not just top-tier football but also the chance to explore Switzerland’s natural beauty and cultural richness.
Whether you're strolling through Zurich's old town, exploring Basel's museums, or taking in Bern's historic charm, the Women's Euros 2025 promises an unforgettable blend of sports and travel.
El Clásico or the Milan Derby?
If time is tight, then you can get the same sporting buzz by whizzing across to Spain to watch bitter rivals FC Barcelona and Real Madrid battle it out on the pitch.
Such is the passion for the ‘beautiful game’ among the Catalans and their southern rivals that the stadiums of Camp Nou in Barcelona or Santiago Bernabéu in the Spanish capital are always packed to the rafters.
Getting your hands on the golden tickets for an El Clásico game is like winning the lottery – regardless of the result. And while you’re at it, two of Spain’s most enthralling and colorful cities are waiting to be explored.
Alternatively, witness Inter Milan take on AC Milan at the iconic San Siro Stadium in Italy’s Lombardy capital.
The Derby Della Madonnina is more than just a fixture. It’s a tradition and a major sporting attraction like no other, with the friendly rivalry part of the city’s historic DNA.
Premier League Experiences
However, if it’s the sport itself rather than the zest to travel that is the driving force, then let’s ditch the flights and stay on home turf.
For many, watching the likes of Man U play at Old Trafford or Man City at the Etihad Stadium is right up there on the bucket list.
With the waiting list to join the membership of these premier league teams often being years long, watching the game from an exclusive box and enjoying all the bells and whistles of a corporate hospitality package is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.
So give me a call and I’ll get you on the winning side.
FORMULA 1
There’s nothing quite like the theatre of Formula One. It’s that perfect combination of human spirit and the most advanced mechanical wizardry that sees the racing cars defy speed and mesmerize spectators.
The anticipation as the cars take up their starting positions on the grid is nerve-wracking, and the sound as they all race past is literally ground-breaking.
Monaco Grand Prix
The Monaco Grand Prix has become the undeniable crown jewel of Formula 1 — and arguably is the most famous race in the world. Since 1955 the tight corners, sharp turns, and elevation changes make the Circuit de Monaco an instant classic, each and every year.
Not only is attending THE race a once-in-a-lifetime experience, but simply visiting the glittering French Riviera is a prize in itself.
As one of the wealthiest and most expensive countries in the world, Monaco is the playground of the rich and famous. The marina is heaving with super yachts (many complete with onboard helipads); the car parks are teeming with Ferraris and Lamborghinis, and the boulevards are lined with designer labels and Michelin stars.
During a race weekend, why not sign up for the whole ‘Monaco experience’? Step aboard a yacht, walk the pit lane, and ensure your name is on the guest list of one of Monaco's famous Friday night yacht parties!
Abu Dhabi Grand Prix
Equally glamorous is the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix. As the final race of the F1 season, there’s a real ‘last day at school’ feeling during this event. The after-race concerts prolong the party with the likes of Beyonce, Rhianna, and the Foo Fighters gracing the stages of the past.
Taking pole position right on the Yas Marina Circuit is the iconic five-star W Abu Dhabi hotel. Stand on the terrace of the luxurious hotel and feel the thunder as the cars flash past.
A trip to Abu Dhabi can easily be combined with a visit to the neighbouring emirate of Dubai or a trip to a glorious desert oasis.
Las Vegas Grand Prix
Swapping the Arabian Desert for the Mojave Desert, the grand prix in Las Vegas is a bright neon and colourful affair. Las Vegas is the baby on the Grand Prix circuit making its debut on the F1 calendar in 2023.
With top speeds expected to reach an astonishing 212 miles per hour on the three main straights, the 14-turn track winds along the iconic Las Vegas Strip, passing many famous landmarks.
Making the experience even more exciting is the fact that the Las Vegas Grand Prix is a night race. All of Las Vegas’s lights clash in a cascade of color creating a spectacular show that only Las Vegas can throw.
Singapore Grand Prix
Another night-time extravaganza will take place over in Singapore. With the Singapore skyline as the backdrop, the Marina Bay Street Circuit weaves its way through the city’s streets.
The track is one of the season’s most demanding. With 23 corners, stifling humidity, and an uneven road surface, it’s a tough experience for even the top drivers.
The event is capped with a range of concerts and entertainment making Singapore an even more memorable place to visit.
With nearly 25 host cities on the circuit, you’ve got a great choice of destinations to explore. By tapping into the hospitality packages on offer, you can elevate the whole experience even further to claim that podium place.
CRICKET
Whether it’s India, New Zealand, South Africa, or right here in the UK at Lords or The Oval, there’s something so quintessentially British about cricket.
The Ashes Downunder in 2025/6
All eyes will be cast Down Under in November 2025 when England visits Australia looking to get its hands back on ‘the urn’.
Over two months, the Ashes will be played across five Australian cities: Brisbane, Adelaide, Perth, Melbourne, and Sydney.
Take in the vineyards of Adelaide; admire the 12 Apostles as you cruise along The Great Ocean Road towards eclectic Melbourne; scale that famous bridge in Sydney and take in the world’s most famous Opera House; go surfing in Brisbane and soak up the sun in Perth (it’s officially the sunniest capital city in Australia).
The Ashes tour is the perfect reason to finally make that lifetime trip to Oz. Be sure to catch the traditional Boxing Day Test at the famous MCG in Melbourne.
Holiday itineraries can be planned around the matches and for those die-hard cricket fans, there are even cricket-centric packages that include a chance to meet with cricketing icons such as Michael Atherton and David Lloyd.
Cricket Tour of India 2025
No doubt the Barmy Army will be chanting in full force as England tours the cauldron that is India for five T20Is and three ODIs next January and February.
Few countries match the passion and obsession for this game as India does. In this vibrant country bursting at the seams with colour and culture, it’s fair to say that cricket matches in India are like no other.
Itineraries once again can be curated to take in the matches, staying in some of the country's most iconic Maharaja palace hotels. Explore mesmerizing cities like Mumbai or Kolkata, or complete the Golden Triangle taking in the romance of the Taj Mahal in Agra, the pink city of Jaipur, and the bustling capital of Delhi.
New Zealand Tour Winter 2024
New Zealand is another die-hard cricket host and England are due to tour there this November and December.
The great thing about this ‘land of the hobbits’ is that although it might be small compared to its Aussie neighbour, it sure does pack a punch.
Other than taking in an international cricket match or two, there are so many reasons to visit New Zealand. The mammoth journey to get there from the UK will be well and truly rewarded with a host of vastly opposing experiences.
You’ll be walking on ice glaciers one day and bungee jumping the next. And in between, you’ll be climbing volcanoes, white water rafting, cruising the fjords, and wine tasting (best to keep the wine tasting until you’ve ticked off the bungee).
Once again packages can be curated so you have seats for the big matches along with taking in the best of this island country.
RUGBY
If you’re keen to be at the heart of the scrum, then the best tactic is to take a holiday incorporating a Six Nations or Rugby Sevens match.
Six Nations Championship
Springtime heralds the battle between the national teams of England, Wales, Ireland, Scotland, France, and Italy. What better time is there to take in the sights of the Italian capital or savor the romance of Paris?
Rugby Sevens Tour
Meanwhile, following the itinerary of the Sevens will see you venture further afield. The tour now features eight venues, from the legendary city of Hong Kong to the glitz and glamour of Las Vegas.
In each and every city, a carnival atmosphere takes hold. While the players display their agility and speed on the pitch, the fans demonstrate their camaraderie, crowd-pleasing chants, and innovative fancy dress.
The crown jewel of the Sevens tour is undoubtedly the three-day extravaganza in Hong Kong. Upwards of 80,000 fans make the annual pilgrimage to the 'Pearl of the Orient’ to compete for the ultimate title.
British and Irish Lions Tour
Meanwhile, the British and the Irish Lions will be heading Down Under in 2025 to take on the Wallabies. It’ll be a perfect warm-up for the Rugby World Cup in 2027.
Tailor-made packages can be curated to include premium match tickets, plus hotels, flights, and even the odd celebrity meet and greet.
TENNIS
If tennis and travel are your two loves, then it’s game, set, and match when you combine the two.
Grand Slam Events
Whether it’s the US Open in New York, the Australian Open in Melbourne, or the Laver Cup in Berlin, packages can be put together to combine the best seats in the house with flights, hotels, and hosted events.
Wimbledon
But closer to home, you can’t ignore wonderful Wimbledon. Rather than watching the action on a TV screen, you can take your seat beside the world’s most famous lawn tennis courts and witness history in action. A few days in London taking in a game is sure to be unforgettable.
